Job Description

The Special Education Coordinator oversees special education programs within the district, supervises staff, ensures compliance, and collaborates on curriculum development and student safety.

Responsibilities

Supervise and evaluate certified and support staff.

Enforce personnel policies and participate in recruitment and training.

Coordinate related service personnel and manage student, staff, and parent issues.

Develop curriculum, provide leadership on health and safety assessments, and maintain administrative records.

Ensure compliance with special education laws and participate in meetings and professional growth activities.

Supervise department events and perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Illinois Public Educator License, General Administrative Endorsement, and Teacher Evaluator Designation required.
Bachelor’s degree in special education or related field preferred.
Leadership experience in special education, including IEP and Section 504 meetings.

Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of: Student programming, district policies, laws, and regulations.

Ability to: Communicate effectively, interpret policies, analyze situations, meet deadlines, work independently, and organize work.

Working Conditions

School settings, indoor and outdoor environments. Ability to stand, bend, reach, hear, speak, see, and manipulate materials as needed.
