• Plan a program of study adopted by the Board of Education that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
• Guide the learning process toward achievement of curriculum goals, establishing clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects, and communicating them to students.
• Employ instructional methods and materials most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
• Assess student accomplishments regularly and provide progress reports as required.
• Facilitate referral of students with possible learning disabilities, seeking assistance of district specialists as needed.
• Consult with colleagues, students, and parents on a regular basis.
• Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, develop reasonable classroom behavior rules and procedures, and maintain order fairly and justly.
• Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher assistants and/or volunteers.
• Pursue and maintain professional competence.
• Attend staff meetings as appropriate.
• Perform other tasks as appropriate.

• Appropriate State of Illinois teaching license and endorsements in the content area.
