Material Handler

Metalex LLC is a growing steel service center with nearly 60 years of experience. We are looking to hire a Material Handler to join our dynamic team. While experience in the steel industry is preferred, it is not required. Ideal candidates should be detail-oriented, eager to learn, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Our goal is to build strong relationships with our customers through high-quality service, value-added opportunities, and professionalism, becoming a trusted part of their supply chain and production teams.

• Locate and stage raw and WIP materials efficiently for upcoming production orders, and manage the removal and reloading of finished loads to minimize machine downtime.
• Understand and utilize Move Ticket, Material I.D., and Routing systems for proper part identification and intra-departmental delivery.
• Perform daily forklift inspections following safety procedures.
• Adhere to safety rules related to material handling and stacking.
• Comply with customer shipping requirements and procedures.
• Maintain housekeeping related to material handling, including scrap management and storage of extra skids.
• Follow all health and safety protocols.
• Train other employees as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Department Assistant.

• Proficiency in verbal and written English communication.
• Ability to read blueprints in both English and metric units.
• Certified forklift driver for standup and sit-down forklifts.
• Crane certification is preferred.
• Knowledge of company policies, shop, and safety rules.
• Understanding of ISO 9001:2015 standards.
• Basic knowledge of inspection equipment related to material identification.
• Basic math skills.
• Ability to perform repetitive bending, kneeling, and lift objects up to 50 lbs as needed.
