Industrial Maintenance Tech Job – Armstrong World Industries, Libertyville, IL

Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineer, the Industrial Maintenance Tech provides shift support for all electrical/mechanical problems, performs predictive and preventative maintenance, manages machine maintenance across the fabrication department, and leads special projects for equipment, facilities, and systems development.

• Follow all safety work practices and wear prescribed personal protective equipment.
• Ensure proper lockout/tagout procedures are followed.
• Provide shift support for all electrical, mechanical, and technical problems.
• Install, maintain, remove, troubleshoot, and diagnose a wide variety of equipment and components used in the manufacturing process.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production machinery and equipment, including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Install, modify, and relocate machinery and equipment; perform fabrication, welding, mechanical, electrical, electronics, plumbing, carpentry, and other maintenance tasks.
• Repair and modify buildings and plant systems as required.
• Troubleshoot and repair components such as rolls, shafts, bearings, drive belts, drive chains, and gear boxes using hand and power tools.
• Troubleshoot and repair pumps, valves, and piping systems, including installation of copper or PVC pipes.
• Read and interpret manuals, schematics, blueprints, drawings, and other installation and repair instructions.
• Identify and complete predictive and preventative maintenance work and weekly mechanical press inspections.
• Manage backlog of work orders.
• Maintain maintenance area tools and equipment, keep toolboxes and work spaces organized.
• Perform other duties as required to maintain or improve plant reliability.
• Conduct daily safety risk assessments on routine and non‑routine job tasks.
• Lead systems development work such as standard work, training, and housekeeping initiatives throughout the plant.

• Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
• Machining and fabrication experience.
• High-level experience troubleshooting manufacturing equipment.
• Welding, machining, and fabrication skills.
• Demonstrated skill working with conveyors, mechanical drive systems (gearboxes, sheaves, pulleys, belts, bearings, sprockets, chains), pumps, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
• Ability to perform precision tasks including laser and dial indicator alignments.

Employment status: Full‑time
Travel: 5%
Pay grade: $26.00 – $35.00 per hour (based on experience)

Physical demands: Frequent standing, walking, use of hands and arms, lifting up to 25 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally; requires close, distance, and color vision, etc.
