Athletic Director

• Valid Illinois coaching certification.
• Experience assigned sport is desirable.
• Knowledge and background in the assigned sport.

• Implement athletic policy approved by the District Board of Education.
• Maintain discipline and promote morale and cooperation within the sports program.
• Understand and communicate proper administration line of command and address student/parent requests and grievances.

• Assist the Head Coach with scheduling and transportation to tournaments and special events.
• Prepare and adhere to scheduled practices, games, and facility times.
• Provide documentation to the Coordinator of Athletics/Activities for physical examinations, parental consent, and eligibility requirements.
• Safeguard equipment and coordinate maintenance and storage.
• Communicate sport rules and regulations to athletes.
• Direct student managers and statisticians; enforce discipline and due process; contact parents regarding eligibility or dismissal.

• Assist the Head Coach in carrying out coaching duties.
• Develop and deliver press releases and school announcements.
• Teach fundamentals of the sport and update athletes on rule changes.
• Maintain team statistics and lettering records.
• Attend staff meetings and conduct scouting assignments.
• Assist in conditioning and weight programs for in‑season and out‑of‑season periods.
• Support the Head Coach by attending other teams’ contests whenever possible.

• Account for all equipment; manage costs for lost or unreturned items.
• Arrange issuance, storage, and annual inventory of equipment.
• Recommend budgetary items for the next year.
• Monitors equipment rooms and coach’s offices; control access.
• Ensure athletes use authorized areas at appropriate times.
• Inspect and maintain cleanliness of locker rooms and equipment before and after practices.
• Secure doors, lights, windows, and locks building custodians are unavailable.

All athletes and team assigned to the coach; assumes supervisory control over athletes in the program when needed.
