Quantity Surveyor – Residential Groundworks & Civil Engineering

We are working in partnership with a well-established and highly respected civil engineering and residential groundworks contractor to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor.

This is a great opportunity to join a growing business delivering major groundworks packages for leading UK house builders, where you’ll play a key role in commercial management and project delivery.

The Role

As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered within budget while supporting operational teams with accurate financial reporting and forecasting.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Preparing and managing project budgets, including cost planning for labour and materials
  • Conducting regular site visits to monitor progress and capture scope of works
  • Measuring completed works and preparing interim valuations
  • Producing financial reports, forecasts, and identifying commercial risks
  • Supporting the preparation and agreement of final accounts
  • Managing subcontractor procurement, selection, and payments
  • Working closely with site teams to identify cost‑saving opportunities
  • Liaising with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to resolve issues efficiently
  • Ensuring all commercial activities comply with relevant regulations and standards
About You
  • Have experience as a Quantity Surveyor within groundworks, civil engineering, or a similar environment
  • Are commercially aware with strong analytical skills
  • Have excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Are proactive, organised, and detail‑focused
  • Hold a full UK driving licence
