Responsibilities- Coordinates and works closely with other food service employees to ensure menu items are prepared in a timely manner to meet meal service times and/or satellite delivery schedule.
- Assists in the preparation of school meals by cooking simple starches (rice, whipped potatoes, etc.), cleaning and preparing fresh fruits and vegetables, and may assist with the preparation of meal items for students with dietary needs.
- Operates a food service vehicle to transport prepared meals, food items, food carts, and related equipment and supplies; loads and unloads the vehicle safely; maintains routine documentation related to delivery and food service duties.
- Reviews daily production records and/or serving site records; verifies the number of servings/portions of food to be delivered; portions and packs menu items for each satellite meal service; documents time and temperature of foods on the service site daily record.
- Sets up serving counters for meal service, serves students and staff, and replenishes food and other items as needed.
- Washes pots, pans, plates, and other kitchen equipment and utensils.
- Cleans and maintains work areas, serving counters, dining areas, and washrooms; sanitizes utensils and equipment; sweeps, scrubs, and mops floors.
- Receives provisions, documents product temperature if applicable, reports discrepancies, dates and stores goods properly, records supplies and ingredients used, and assists in monthly inventory and routine records.
- May supervise student helpers assigned to the school kitchen or with the delivery of school meals.
- Maintains a food service vehicle by performing minor preventative maintenance to ensure safe operation.
- Attends and participates in staff meetings, workshops, and in-service training; achieves the annual minimum required training hours as outlined by the United States Department of Agriculture.
Education and Experience Requirements: Applicants must possess the ability to read, write, and understand oral and written English, follow instructions, and perform simple arithmetic. This may be demonstrated by graduation from high school or equivalent work experience.
License Requirement: Applicants must possess a valid motor vehicle license to drive in the State of Hawaii.
Supplemental InformationSalary: The advertised salary is based on full-time employment and includes shortage and school year differentials, if applicable.
Requirements: Applicants must meet all requirements for the position as of the date of application. Education and experience may not be gained concurrently unless specified. Calculation of experience is based on full-time, 40-hour weeks; part-time experience is pro-rated.
Temporary Assignment: Temporary Assignment (TA) experience may need verification. Acceptable options include TA History Report, supervisor letter with TA details, or SF-10 forms.
