As an Airport Law Enforcement Officer - Armed in Lihue, HI, you’ll serve on the front line of aviation security—ensuring public safety, safeguarding airport facilities, and upholding the spirit of aloha through professional service. You will monitor and patrol assigned areas, conduct routine patrols, and remain highly visible to support a positive atmosphere. This position requires you to be armed and to operate a vehicle as part of your responsibilities.

Part Time - Morning Pay Rate: $28.86 / Hour with an hourly bonus of $3.58. Premium paid shall be based on the position actually worked by the employee.

- Mon: 06:00 AM - 02:00 PM
- Wed: 06:00 AM - 02:00 PM
To be considered all applicants must meet the following criteria:
- 2+ years of professional law enforcement experience in the U.S. after graduating from a certified law enforcement academy (Federal, State, or County level).
- Graduate of Law Enforcement or Military Police Training Program or Equivalent (must provide credentials upon applying)
- Valid Driver's License
- Law Enforcement Officer License
- 22+ years of age
Applicant must complete one of the following approved programs:
- 1. Certified State law enforcement recruit training.
- 2. Certified County law enforcement recruit training.
- 3. Federal law enforcement training.
- 4. Programs approved by the Director.
- 5. Each LEO will possess the following minimum qualifications:
- No felony convictions or convictions for abuse of a household member under Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 (18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(9)) or documented truthfulness infractions in violation of Giglio/Henthorn for federal impeachment proceedings (referring to the decisions in Giglio v. United States, 405 U.S. 105 (1972) and United States v. Henthorn, 931
F. 2d 29 (9th Cir. 1991)).

A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions.
Knowledge andSkills Required:
- Must be able to supervise Contractor’s personnel and work effectively with airport management, tenants, other law enforcement agencies and the public on matters relating to security disputes, complaints on the performance, conduct or behavior of subordinate employees.
- Shall have no record of moral turpitude, domestic violence, untruthfulness, or mental or emotional disorders which may interfere with performance of duties.
- Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
- Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner.
- Ability to exercise sound judgement and render immediate, appropriate decisions, under stressful conditions.
- Maturity in conduct behavior and attitude.
- Ability to take orders, follow instructions, accept and assume responsibility for one’s actions.
- Alertness, attentiveness, and professional conduct. Ability to recognize, respond and take appropriate and corrective actions to various situations.
- Strong moral character. Must possess high standards and be truthful.
- Ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing in English.
- Courtesy in inter-person relationships with the public, airport employees, tenants, law enforcement and security personnel.
- LEOs may be required to provide a court appearance for citations that are issued on behalf of DOTA. Contractor shall provide replacement staffing for LEOs that are required to attend a court proceeding.
