As an Airport Law Enforcement Officer - Armed in Lihue, HI, you’ll serve on the front line of aviation security—ensuring public safety, safeguarding airport facilities, and upholding the spirit of aloha through professional service. You will monitor and patrol assigned areas, conduct routine patrols, and remain highly visible to support a positive atmosphere. This position requires you to be armed and to operate a vehicle as part of your responsibilities.

Position Type: Full Time - Overnight

Pay Rate: $28.86 / Hour with an hourly bonus of $3.58. Premium paid shall be based on the position actually worked by the employee.

• 2+ years of professional law enforcement experience in the U.S. after graduating from a certified law enforcement academy (Federal, State, or County level)

• Graduate of Law Enforcement or Military Police Training Program or Equivalent (must provide credentials upon applying)
• Valid Driver's License
• Law Enforcement Officer License
• 22+ years of age

• Applicant must complete one of the following approved programs:
  • Certified State law enforcement recruit training.
  • Certified County law enforcement recruit training.
  • Federal law enforcement training.
  • Programs approved by the Director.
• No felony convictions or convictions for abuse of a household member under Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 (18 U.S.C. 922(g)(9)) or documented truthfulness infractions in violation of Giglio/Henthorn for federal impeachment proceedings.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions.

• Must be able to supervise Contractor’s personnel and work effectively with airport management, tenants, other law enforcement agencies and the public on matters relating to security disputes, complaints on the performance, conduct or behavior of subordinate employees.

• Shall have no record of moral turpitude, domestic violence, untruthfulness, or mental or emotional disorders which may interfere with performance of duties.

• Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner.
• Exercise sound judgement and render immediate, appropriate decisions under stressful conditions.
• Maintain maturity in conduct behavior and attitude.
• Follow orders, accept and assume responsibility for one's actions.
• Remain alert, attentive, and conduct yourself professionally; recognize, respond, and take appropriate corrective actions to various situations.
• Demonstrate strong moral character, high standards, and truthfulness.

• Show courtesy in interpersonal relationships with the public, airport employees, tenants, law enforcement, and security personnel.
• May be required to provide a court appearance for citations issued on behalf of DOTA; contractor shall provide replacement staffing for required court proceedings.

• Mentally and emotionally capable of performing all duties required for assigned post/duties.
• In good physical health, capable of performing normal or emergency duties requiring moderate to arduous physical exertion such as standing, walking, patrolling for an entire shift, climbing stairs, running, and self-defense.
