Position Summary
We are hiring a Permanent Full‑Time Experienced Mid‑Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Lihue, HI.

Compensation & Bonuses- Hourly Pay: $34.12 per hour
- Sign‑On Bonus: $2500 (Ryder pays $1250 at 30 days and $1250 at 90 days)
- Tool Box Incentive: $300 yearly allowance
- Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification up to $700
- Quarterly Bonus:
Up to $500 every quarter – four times per year - Schedule:
Monday – Friday, Weekends OFF - Hours:
First Shift 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Vocational or technical certification, post‑secondary degree or technical certifications preferred
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A required; ability to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
- Minimum 2–3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in mechanical repair and diagnostics on heavy‑ and medium‑duty equipment
- Proficiency with basic tools and mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines (routine preventive maintenance including oil changes, brake and tire work)
- Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems required
- Knowledge of computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
- Ability to drive Ryder vehicles and pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and background/motor‑vehicle check
- All additional certification required by location; SBTIII training within 180 days; complete 2 OEM online diagnostic scan tool courses within 365 days (specific to fleet mix)
- Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties (standard and preventive maintenance)
- Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers when applicable
- Complete detailed mechanics inspections & repairs with minimal supervision
- Replace defective components as instructed
- Work unsupervised on most tasks; mentor Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
- Perform facility maintenance duties
- Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaints after task assignment
- Use shop management system and electronic documentation
- Adhere to federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
- Other support duties as required (e.g., service island support)
- Complete required training (SBTIII, OEM courses)
