Position Description

Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Experienced Mid‑Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Lihue, HI.

• Hourly Pay: $34.12 per hour
• Sign‑on Bonus: $3,000 (split $1,500 at 30 days, $1,500 at 90 days)
• Tool Box Incentive: $300 yearly allowance
• Certification Bonus: $100 per new ASE certification up to $700
• Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 each quarter
• Schedule:
  
  Monday – Friday, Weekends OFF

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Vocational or Technical Certification or Post‑secondary degree preferred
• Basic tools required
• Demonstrated aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance, basic diagnostics, AC and electrical systems
• Three (3) years or more relevant work experience preferred
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A preferred
• All other required certifications for the location
• Minimum of 2 years experience with heavy‑duty and medium‑duty equipment repairs and diagnostics
• Computer skills (PC, Windows, mouse, etc.)
• Must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
• Pass RIDER drug test, DOT physical, road test, and background/motor‑vehicle check (including drug/alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years)

• Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including preventive and complex mechanical and electronic repairs using diagnostic computers where applicable
• Complete detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
• Replace defective components as instructed
• Work unsupervised on most tasks
• Perform facility maintenance duties
• Interact with customers/drivers to determine complaint nature when assigned tasks
• Utilize Shop Management System and electronic documentation
• Comply with all federal, provincial, and corporate guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
• Mentor Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
• Access and use internal and external maintenance documents
• Support operations duties as required (e.g., Service Island support)
• Complete SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT
  220)
• Complete 2 OEM On‑Line diagnostic scan tool software courses within 365 days (fleet mix predominant OEM)
