Kauai Mechanical Inc., a local mechanical contractor, is looking for a hard-working and motivated individual to join their team as a Journeyman HVAC Installer working in their Installations Department.
The Journeyman works under the direction of the Installations Department Manager and Installations Foreman, performing skilled installation of HVAC equipment, commercial refrigeration system. This position requires strong technical ability, professionalism, and the capacity to take the lead on smaller-scope projects. The ideal candidate is experienced, reliable, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering high-quality work on every job site.
Job Functions- Install commercial and industrial HVAC and refrigeration equipment to include duct work, commercial kitchen equipment, and building control systems.
- Possess the technical skills to identify and isolate problems clearly communicating what is needed.
- Able to read and apply electrical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, and wiring diagrams redlining changes/modifications as needed.
- Perform system startup and commissioning at the end of projects, gathering pertinent information needed to obtain manufacturer warranties.
- Ability to talk confidently with the customer, acting as a liaison between the customer and office.
- Perform work with a focus on Safety and Quality.
- Responsible for maintaining a clean and organized job site.
- Able to maintain a clean and organized work vehicle.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used within the company CRM.

- High school Diploma or equivalent required.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to relate with a variety of personality types.
- Attention to detail and the ability to complete work to a deadline.
- Minimum of 5+ years of HVAC related experience.
- Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics, providing material takeoffs as needed.
- Solid knowledge and understanding of HVAC system operations.
- Able to braze and solder. Welding is a plus.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Good organizational and time management skills to handle multiple issues.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Universal EPA Certification.
Job Type: Full-time
Wage: Starting at $50/hour Based on experience (Must pass Union Journeyman test)
