Position OverviewPermanent Full‑Time Experienced Mid‑Level Diesel Technician supporting the Truck Fleet at Ryder in Lihue, HI.

Pay & Incentives- Hourly Pay: $34.12 per hour
- Sign‑on Bonus: $3,000 total ($1,500 at 30 days, $1,500 at 90 days)
- Tool Box Incentive: $300 yearly allowance
- Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification (up to $700)
- Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 per quarter – four times per year

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Vocational or technical certification / post‑secondary degree preferred
- Basic tools required
- Experience with mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
- Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems
- Three or more years of relevant work experience (preferred)
- Valid commercial driver license (CDL) Class A (preferred)
- All additional certifications required by location (required)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑duty and medium‑duty equipment
- Computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
- Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
- Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and Ryder background/Motor Vehicle check (includes drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years)
- Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard and preventive maintenance
- Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers when applicable
- Complete complex and detailed mechanical inspections & repairs with minimal supervision; work unsupervised on most tasks
- Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints once assigned a task
- Utilize key functions of the Shop Management System and electronic documentation
- Operate in accordance with all federal / provincial / corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
- Act as a mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
- Access and use internal and external maintenance documents
- Perform other support duties as required to support operations (e.g., Service Island support)
- Complete SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT
220) - Complete two OEM online diagnostic scan‑tool software courses within 365 days (as required by location)
