Dental Assistant – Scheduler (Mondays – Alpharetta, Tues, Wed, Fridays, and Every Other Saturdays – Lilburn)
Join Coast Dental as a Dental Assistant. This position floats between locations, serving as a Patient Care Coordinator while performing clinical and administrative duties.
Job PurposeThis dual role allows the candidate to float to work as a Patient Care Coordinator (Dental Assistant) at various locations based on practice need. Responsibilities include assisting the dentist in providing treatment, care and education to patients, possessing strong clinical knowledge, and maintaining back‑office and administrative functions. The candidate must hold an Expanded Duties Certificate and/or Radiography Certification at hire or within 90 days.
Duties and Responsibilities- Understand delegable duties for a dental assistant.
- Assist in clinical procedures and treatments.
- Learn and comply with OSHA laws and safety guidelines.
- Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
- Follow state and federal infection control standards, use protective barriers, disinfect and sterilize instruments, and dispose of hazardous waste.
- Review and complete required documentation: medical history, alerts, signed consent forms.
- Document all procedures performed during each patient visit according to regulations.
- Welcome patients at reception, escort them to treatment areas, schedule appointments, and confirm appointments by phone.
- Provide dental education and promote patient awareness of dental health.
- Present treatment plans and options to patients in a professional manner.
- Explain insurance benefits and financial options in nonclinical terms.
- Ensure operatories are equipped, stocked, and inventory is re‑ordered as needed.
- Maintain equipment protocols: keep evacuation systems clean, lubricate hand pieces, maintain radiograph processors, and keep the office environment clean.
- Notify Office Manager of equipment failures or safety concerns.
- Assist with laboratory duties as needed.
- Recognize signs of a dental emergency and respond appropriately.
- Maintain production standards and abide by hospital policies.
- Use a patient follow‑up system for re‑care and contact.
- Maintain a professional work environment with the team.
- Attend morning huddles, regular meetings, and any scheduled training seminars.
- Follow HIPAA regulations and keep patient confidentiality.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Active Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) certification or, if in Florida, a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) license or Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) certificate held prior to May 2009.
- Radiography licensure.
- Minimum of one year dental experience preferred.
- Excellent customer service and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a high‑volume environment.
