Base pay range

$24.00/hr - $26.00/hr

Job Summary

The Heat Crane Operator is a member of our Melt Department responsible for operating an overhead crane to facilitate movement of product during melting operations. Wage starting at $24.20/hr. with .50 pr hr increases every 6 months until the established top rate of pay is achieved. Additional Paid Relief Days, $1,000 SIGN ON BONUS (Paid in increments throughout the first year of continued employment), and this position is eligible for the Production Incentive Program.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Observing company policies, procedures, work instructions and standards.
  • Observing safety policies, procedures, work instructions and standards.
  • Timely, accurate and neat documentation of daily production.
  • Housekeeping in department work areas and company living areas.
  • Timely reporting of equipment problems and issues.
  • Pre-operation inspection of crane operations and associated equipment (chains, hooks, blocks, tackle, lifting beams, etc.)
  • Operation of overhead (cab) crane in support of all aspects of melting operation (tapping, degas and pouring).
  • Communication with operators and employees on the floor and in the scrapyard.
Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions
  • Must be comfortable working at heights
  • Must be capable of standing for long periods of time
  • Exposed to seasonal temperature changes
  • Manufacturing environment with noise, dust, and vibration
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Previous experience with heavy equipment or crane operation required
  • Previous overhead crane experience preferred
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Must be able to work any shift, including some weekends

  • Eligible upon hire:
