Job Overview
Responsible for:
Installs and repairs electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment; coordinates maintenance and repair of electrical power, lighting and transportation equipment by performing the following duties.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment including conveyors and programmable controllers.
- Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment such as robots, conveyors, and programmable controllers.
- Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment, and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment.
- Inspects wiring and fixtures for conformance to specifications or local electrical codes.
- Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables.
- Tests malfunctioning machinery and discusses malfunction with other maintenance workers to diagnose malfunction.
- Replaces faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, switches, and motors, and positions sending devices.
- Diagnoses and repairs or replaces faulty electronic components.
- Replaces electric motor bearings and rewires motors.
- Pushes buttons and presses keys on programmable controller to program automated machinery, to operate automated machinery, to test for malfunctions, and to verify repairs.
- Analyses and resolves electrical problems or assists workers in solving electrical problems.
- Plans layout or wiring and installs wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings.
- Diagnoses and replaces faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.
- Performs related duties as required.

EDUCTION and/or EXPERIENCETechnical school degree or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING SKILLSAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSMust possess valid Master Electrician License.
