The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.
Job OverviewResponsible for patient simulation and radiation treatment delivery.
Qualifications- Graduate of a JCERT accredited school of radiation therapy
- Certification by American Registry of Radiographic Technologists in radiation therapy
- CPR certification via American Heart Association
- 2‑5 years of radiation therapy experience
- Check for correct prescription, treatment plan, calculations, simulation/setup information, and signed consent before the initiation of radiation treatment.
- Accurately position the patient according to instructions provided in the chart and deliver the prescribed radiation dose and treatment.
- Correctly document treatment data in the patient’s daily radiation treatment record and keep charts updated.
- Review charts daily for changes to prescription, plans, calculations, and blocking.
- Obtain weekly portal films and/or images at intervals consistent with departmental policy.
- Ensure that all weekly portal films and images are reviewed by the attending radiation oncologist.
- Use knowledge of the ARIA system to appropriately schedule patients for simulation procedures, treatment setup and delivery, and to facilitate communication between members of the oncology team for treatment planning and procedures.
- Use knowledge of SCM and Premise to schedule patients and inform escort services.
- Explain radiation therapy process and simulation procedures to patients and ensure consent is signed prior to simulation.
- Obtain all pertinent patient information such as diagnostic films, labs, and pathology reports prior to the simulation.
- Apply knowledge of patient positioning and correct use of immobilization devices for accurate reproduction of treatment setup.
- Apply knowledge of general CT scanner applications to obtain images for treatment planning.
- Accurately mark and tattoo patient to the coordinates of the computed isocenter provided by the Voxel Q workstation.
- Accurately document patient’s treatment position and use of positioning aids by taking digital photos and writing instructions in the chart.
- Coordinate and organize workflow between simulation, dosimetry and treatment.
