Office Specialist – Nebraska State Penitentiary

Hiring rate: $17.254 per hour

- Coordinate and reconcile daily deposits
- Prepare miscellaneous receipts
- Process inmate payroll, including monitoring pay documents, reports, and activity to ensure inmate workers are paid correctly
- Complete log for receiving/issuing pop tokens
- Process inmate travel orders
- Research confiscated appeals from inmates
- Serve as contact for inmate accounting and coordinator of inmate payroll
- Train supervisors to use inmate payroll software
- Answer Inmate Interview Requests
- Review electronic receipts
- Assist business manager as needed
- Review/approve all outgoing inmate institutional checks
- Review, code, and approve purchasing documents
- Facilitate American Correctional Association (ACA) file preparation for standards to assure accreditation
Minimum Qualifications:
Coursework or training in administrative/office support functions, procedures, and methods, including the operation of personal computers and office equipment; or experience in customer service or public contact; or applying criteria/regulations; and/or performing administrative/office/secretarial support work including use of personal computers and office equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum two years’ experience/training/education in administrative/office/clerical support functions. Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
Applicants must pass a medical exam and a drug test at a randomly announced time. Upon acceptance, applicants must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program.
