The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) is seeking dedicated primary care physicians to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals who need it most. As a primary care physician, you will play a vital role in improving the health and rehabilitation of individuals who are committed to personal growth and change.

Responsibilities- Perform varying levels of professional supervisory and medical work in the primary care section of a public service health/correctional facility.
- Supervise and/or participate in the examination, diagnosis, and treatment of acutely ill patients.
- Recommend admission and release of acutely ill patients to our skilled nursing facilities.
- Read and interpret x‑thermal films; all films are overread by a radiologist.
- atorial perform minor surgery (I&D abscess, joint injections, sutוצה) when medically necessary.
- Assist in the instruction of mid‑level staff at the facility.
- May participate in the examination and treatment of mentally ill patients.
- M.D. degree and license to practice medicine in the state of Nebraska.
- Three years’ experience as a visiting physician at an approved hospital OR two years of experience as a staff physician at an approved hospital.
- Applicants must pass pre‑employment medical exam and drug test, and complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program.
