This is a part‑time regular position under the general direction and supervision of the Director of the Child Development Center. The Lead Aide assists the Group Supervisor in planning and carrying out a developmental program that provides a successful learning environment for Early Childhood Education students. Major responsibilities include education and care of the children enrolled in the Program.
Essential Functions- Work under the Group Supervisor to carry out plans and teach appropriate educational programs, routines, activities, and experiences of children enrolled in the program.
- Provide continuity of education and care in assigned classrooms when the Group Supervisor may be absent.
- Assist and cooperate with the Group Supervisor, support staff, and SCC students involved in teaching and supervising the classroom's children.
- Cooperate with the Group Supervisor in any temporary reassignment necessary because of staff absences or changed attendance of children or to maintain a quality program for all children enrolled in the Center.
- Cooperate with Early Childhood Education Instructors responsible for teaching, supervising, and evaluating students in the laboratory.
- Cooperate with other Program staff so that each can assume assigned responsibilities effectively.
- Evaluate each child in the assigned group and maintain records and other information regarding the progress of children, to be conveyed to parents during conferences.
- Give input to Group Supervisors or lab Instructors on students.
- Maintain the general appearance of the classroom used and help keep the cleanliness and appearance of other rooms (lunchroom, bathroom, etc.).
- Be responsible for meeting the Child/Teacher ratio in assigned areas.
- May be required to perform associated duties, functions, or assignments in other divisions/programs/areas as required.
- Perform other College functions and duties as assigned.
- Must be able to work varied days, hours, shifts, locations, and campuses as required. Work schedules are scheduled by Southeast Community College based on the needs of the College. Work hours, shifts, days, and work locations may vary and are subject to modification.
- Knowledge of evidence‑based Early Childhood Education philosophies and practices.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds for short distances, and move tables, chairs, and media equipment.
- Effective communication skills in writing, in person, and on the phone.
- Basic computer skills.
- The individual must possess the above skills and abilities or be able to demonstrate the ability to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
- Experience working with children in a group setting.
- 6 months of supervisory experience.

Salary$16.00 per hour
BenefitsPart‑time regular employees are eligible to participate in the TIAA retirement plan through a Roth, SRA, or 457(B) account, with no match provided by the College. Additionally, part‑time regular employees may enroll in the group vision plan through employee‑paid premiums.
ScheduleNormal hours are scheduled by the College, generally Monday through Friday, based on a 29‑hour work week on a 260‑day calendar. Scheduled special activities, emergencies, or temporary schedule changes may require hours outside the regular workday or work week.
