Heartland Bible Church Context Purpose- The purpose of HBC is to worship God, to build up believers and to present the gospel to unbelievers.
- Friendly, welcoming, and older congregation
- Known for our excellence in expository preaching, older believer body life, emphasis on evangelism and excitement for learning about God’s word.
- Blended worship style in which we gather for edification & discipleship and scatter for evangelism in our local context.
- Our elder led church seeks to live interconnected with the larger body of Christ.
- Sponsors a large number of midweek home Bible studies and is mission focused.
- Has a regular digital ministry with potential for upgrading and advances.
- HBC is a member of the Fellowship of Evangelical Bible Churches (FEBC).
- Set amid the capital city of Lincoln, Nebraska, which is predicted to consistently grow in the coming years.
- A congregation of around 100 people strategically placed in the second largest city in Nebraska.
- The church is situated on a busy 56th Street which is about a 7-minute drive to downtown Lincoln and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus.
- The church is currently debt free.
- To serve as the lead primary teaching pastor, and joint shepherd along with the elders for the spiritual care of HBC.
- To be regularly involved in the encouraging and enriching offerings of the FEBC such as the monthly pastor’s luncheons, annual pastors’ and wives’ retreat, wives’ retreat, and annual conference (Connect) held in the month of July.
- This is a full-time position and has a start date as early as winter/spring 2026.
- Preaching and Teaching
- Deliver weekly expository sermons from the Scriptures and exhort others to apply God’s Word.
- Lead with a strong commitment to the Word and authority of Scripture.
- Provide teaching and training to equip the body for edification and service and discipleship and one-anothering.
- Leadership and Vision
- Collaborate with the elder board in shaping the vision and direction of the church.
- Cast vision for ministry priorities and initiatives that align with HBC’s mission.
- Shepherd and disciple ministry leaders and staff (Eph
4).
- Pastoral Leadership
- Provide biblical counsel, encouragement, and support to the congregation.
- Lead in developing a culture of care, love, prayer, and discipleship.
- Administration and Oversight
- Help oversee the daily operations of the church in conjunction with Elders.
- Support and coordinate ministry teams and staff.
- Ensure effective communication and organizational health within the church.
- Outreach & Community Engagement
- Foster outreach initiatives to reach the local community with the gospel.
- Encourage and model evangelism and hospitality.
- Demonstrated life of Christ-like character, humility, and dependence on God.
- Mature man whose character and life conforms to the biblical qualifications of an elder found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.
- Exemplary marriage (if applicable).
- A clear calling to full-time pastoral ministry.
- Clear Biblical philosophy of ministry related to preaching/teaching and shepherding in Christ’s Church.
- A passion for teaching the Word of God and to see future generations of leaders and families thrive spiritually in Christ.
- Bachelor’s degree (or the equivalent) from an evangelical college (or equivalent).
- A minimum of 5 years in ministry experience is preferred.
- Proven leadership and administration/management skills.
- Demonstrated heart for outreach and evangelism.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Teaching gift.
- Having a background in exegetical educational training (i.e. basic knowledge of Hebrew and Greek languages).
- Protestant (5 Solas of the Reformation).
- Dispensationalist, Pre-Trib/Pre-Mil.
- Cessationist.
- Complementarian.
- Historical-Literal-Grammatical Hermeneutics.
- Eldership Rule.
- Literal 7-Day (24 hour) Creation.

- Full‑Time: a position requiring ministerial calling and drive.
- Salary/Compensation:

- The teaching pastor candidate will be examined by the pastoral search committee, the elder board of HBC and also vetted by the Commission on Churches of the FEBC.
