Job Description

Position Title: LPS District Ensemble Assistant Director for Modern Vocal Ensemble

Location: District Office

As the LPS District Ensemble Assistant Director for the High School Modern Vocal Ensemble, you will work with selected high‑school vocal students in grades 9‑12 in a district‑wide choir. This group places emphasis on music that is accessible and meaningful to the students. You will collaborate with the head director to provide opportunities that deepen cultural experience through history, shared experiences, and musical context of the selected repertoire.

Responsibilities:

  • Audition students district‑wide.
  • Communicate with parents.
  • Assist with conducting and instruct weekly rehearsals/sectionals.
  • Coordinate concert set‑up and tear‑down.
  • Share responsibilities with the director and perform other duties as assigned to support the ensemble.
  • Rehearse following the LPS calendar one day per week outside of school hours.
  • Participate in public performances and semester concerts.

Compensation:

Paid through Extra Standard $5,710 per year (non‑contractual assignment). Reports to Supervisor of Music. Position subject to veteran’s preference.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and valid Nebraska Teaching Certificate.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred (though not required).
  • Experience in leading or assisting a vocal music ensemble (school or community choir) preferred.
  • Knowledge of effective teaching methods and demonstrated successful classroom experience.
  • Successful collaboration, teamwork/team‑teaching, planning and preparation desired.
Job Requirements
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience (preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred).
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
