The primary focus of this role is the design of robust enclosures for autonomy controllers and sensors, designing brackets and supports for sensor and actuator integrations to retrofit vehicles for autonomy, performing thermal and structural analysis, and supervising pre‑production environmental tests to ensure reliable operation in demanding field conditions.

Your

Impact
  • Design and validate enclosures, brackets, and mechanical interfaces for autonomy controllers and vehicle‑mounted sensors.
  • Perform thermal and structural analysis (simulation and empirical) to ensure robustness under vibration, dust, moisture, and temperature extremes.
  • Supervise and support pre‑production environmental testing (thermal cycling, vibration, ingress protection, shock, and durability tests).
  • Generate CAD models and mechanical drawings to support prototype builds and production documentation.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, fabricators, and production teams to support enclosure builds and vehicle integration.
Your Experience and qualifications
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline (equivalent practical experience considered), with 2–5 years of experience in mechanical engineering focused on vehicle systems, enclosures, or industrial equipment.
  • Provide hands‑on support for vehicle instrumentation and field testing of mechanical assemblies; document test procedures, design iterations, and validation results; support product design activities including prototype parts, mechanical layouts, and design‑for‑manufacturability reviews.
  • Demonstrate experience in enclosure design, thermal/structural analysis, and environmental testing; proficient in CAD software such as Solid Works, CATIA, or Creo for part and assembly design; skilled in creating detailed 2D drawings with GD&T.
  • Possess knowledge of thermal management and mechanical stress analysis (FEA experience is a plus); familiar with rugged design practices for harsh environments (temperature, vibration, dust, moisture); comfortable with prototyping tools and techniques including 3D printing.
  • Experience in supervising or executing validation tests in lab or field environments; aware of safety best practices in lab, workshop, and field settings; willing to travel (including to the USA), work in field environments (farms, warehouses, test tracks), and at heights (3–5 meters); holding a valid driver’s license is a strong plus.
