As part of our Water Business Group, you’ll help shape how communities manage water for generations to come, delivering safe drinking water, treating wastewater responsibly, developing sustainable water supplies and protecting lives and property through flood control. Your work directly supports public health, environmental sustainability, and infrastructure resilience.

We have an excellent opportunity for a Nebraska/Iowa Drinking Water Business Class Lead. In this position, you will serve as a seller‑doer to grow the Drinking Water Business Class, leading pursuits and managing people and projects that involve planning, engineering design, and construction phase services for primarily drinking water projects.

• Manage staff in the Drinking Water Business Class, including performance reviews, salary adjustments, recruitment, development, morale, quality control, and marketing support.
• Manage and execute multi‑discipline projects.
• Ensure profitability, identifying, obtaining, and assigning appropriate resources to meet budget, schedule, and scope requirements.
• Maintain compliance with QA/QC requirements and other project management and reporting requirements.
• Work collaboratively with other Business Class Leads and Market Sector Leads within the Water Business Group.
• Identify project opportunities, lead client development and pursuits to win work of key projects in the Drinking Water market sector, and assist with others as directed.
• Actively engage in selected professional conferences and industry associations with presentations, committee assignments, and leadership positions.
• Commit to quality, improvement, and HDR values.
• Serve as a strong team player able to function effectively in varied roles on integrated project teams.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Specific types of projects in the Drinking Water Business Class include treatment facilities, water supply, pumping stations, storage reservoirs, pipeline projects, and master planning. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong people and organizational skills, with a wide variety of project types and experience with multiple clients.

• Actively engaged in professional or industry associations to enhance HDR technical expertise and brand.
• Water and wastewater market sector business development accomplishments and aptitude.
• Strong client relations skills and an interest in client and business development.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in a Professional Architecture, Engineering, or closely related field.
• Professional Engineer registration in Iowa or Nebraska, or the ability to obtain registration within 6 months.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• A minimum of 10 years experience.
• Professional registration, license or certification may be required based on role.
• Strong communication and listening skills.
• Ability to handle multiple assignments.
• Good leadership and organizational skills.
• Attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture is a must.
