As a Fire Sprinkler Designer, you will play a key role in protecting a wide range of facilities—from small retail spaces to large industrial power plants—by designing and managing fire sprinkler systems for diverse projects. - Design and layout fire sprinkler systems for commercial and industrial projects, ensuring compliance with all relevant codes, insurance requirements, and contracted scopes of work.
- Prepare permit drawings and perform hydraulic calculations using Auto Sprink 3D (version 2016 or newer); experience with ACAD and BIM is a plus.
- Interpret and apply information from architectural, mechanical, electrical, structural, and civil drawings.
- Conduct field surveys, including taking measurements and verifying site conditions, which may require physical activity such as climbing ladders and stairs.
- Manage all aspects of assigned projects, including design, procurement, fabrication scheduling, coordination with other trades, and project oversight.
- Submit required materials (permits, drawings, insurance documentation) to appropriate authorities in a timely manner.
- Monitor and manage project timelines, labor, and material costs to ensure successful project delivery.
- Communicate and coordinate effectively with clients, management, field personnel, and other trades.
- Collect and manage contract paperwork, including Certificates of Insurance, Tax Exemption Certificates, and Contractor Registrations.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed at all times, both in the office and on project sites.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the fire sprinkler industry.
- NICET Level I certification required.
- Associate's degree or equivalent training in Design & Drafting Technology is a plus.
- Experience with project management and direct oversight of projects and personnel.
- Strong knowledge of industry codes (local code knowledge a plus), OSHA standards, and labor-to-cost ratios.
- Proficiency in Auto Sprink 3D; experience with ACAD design software and BIM is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents, blueprints, and safety rules.
- Strong mathematical skills, including the ability to calculate hydraulic flow rates and pressures.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to perform physical tasks on job sites, including lifting up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally, and navigating ladders, stairs, and tight spaces.
$59,000 - $75,000 annual salary
, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
