About the Role

We are seeking a talented and experienced Intermediate Environmental / Water Quality Modeller
. The ideal candidate will be involved in a variety of projects that have an environmental modelling component looking at fate and transport of chemicals and radionuclides in the environment. In addition, the successful candidate will support and be involved in model verification and validation activities. It is expected that the successful candidate will work well in a team environment, supporting our in-house programmer, project managers, team members, and other modeling specialists.

The position will also require data analysis, statistical analysis, data summary, and report presentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake water quality and/or geochemical modelling, including water quality/balance simulations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop new water quality models and update existing models.
  • Water quality data analysis and source term development.
  • Provide technical input to projects within your area(s) of expertise.
  • Technical communications, including report writing and reviewing.
  • Design, conduct, and report on surface water and groundwater quality studies.
  • Develop and coordinate project specific work plans and assist in proposal development.
  • Interface with other technical experts to achieve multidisciplinary project goals.
  • Interact and liaise with clients and assessors/government regulators.
What do we need from you
  • Graduated with a degree in engineering or science; this can include a M.Sc., M.A.Sc., M.Eng., or Ph.D. in environmental engineering; chemical engineering; or other related sciences.
  • Strong foundation in mathematics and environmental sciences.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills including attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in order to meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to learn and take on challenging tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and industry standards.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Geoscientist (P. Geo.), Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or equivalent certification.
  • Experience in numerical modelling including application of Gold Sim and other data analysis tools.
  • Understanding of hydrology and environmental chemistry is an asset.
