Job Description:

The Department does not sponsor non‑immigrant work or Student visas for this position.

This is advanced, specialized work in the Department of Revenue involving the analysis of tax returns for completeness and accuracy. The agent communicates with all levels of staff—including management—to resolve tax issues, acts as an expert in specific tax categories, and provides technological and procedural assistance for complex tax matters. The agent collaborates on complex tax situations involving statutes, regulations, and other policy matters, ensures returns are processed efficiently, accurately, and on time, updates, writes procedures as needed, and provides institutional knowledge and system‑change suggestions to support multiple tax programs.

The agent also receives and provides written and verbal communication to resolve taxpayer filings.

Job

Duties Include:

  • The Revenue Senior Agent resolves complex issues that cannot be resolved by teammates and answers complex processing questions from management and staff within the agency regarding tax programs. This includes written correspondence and phone calls with taxpayers, accountants, attorneys, and other authorized representatives.
  • Monitoring teammates’ daily work performance and providing input to supervisors for initial probation and performance evaluations.
  • Identifying internal programming and software issues and resolving them with IT staff.
  • Providing extensive one‑on‑one training to teammates.
  • Acting as a work leader who plans, directs, and assigns work with limited supervision.
  • Making computer‑system suggestions to improve accuracy and efficiency for processing tax returns, testing new changes prior to implementation, and creating and maintaining procedures for all processes in the assigned area.

Requirements /

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Associate’s Degree in business plus two years of experience with tax return verwerkt, business ownership & operation, account research & analysis, or interpretation and application of policies, laws, rules, or regulations. OR three years of increasingly responsible experience in the same areas.

Preferred: One‑year experience researching and analyzing tax returns and interpreting tax policies, laws, rules, or regulations.

Knowledge of: Leadership/supervision principles, mathematics & accounting, business operations & practices, information technology, resources for researching laws, rules, and regulations.

Skills: Identifying trends and unique data sets, prioritizing tasks, and applying good judgment and logic to solve problems.

Ability to: Plan, assign and monitor the work of others, manage multiple priorities, communicate clearly, use deductive techniques to locate information, organize and verify tax data from computer‑generated reports, relate effectively with diverse representatives, interpret difficult tax programs for taxpayers, and use independent judgment and discretion in problem solving.
