The Lancaster County Public Defender is seeking a dedicated Investigator to support criminal and civil proceedings. In this role, you will apply investigative methods to interview witnesses, gather physical evidence, and conduct scene investigations, including taking measurements and photographing crime scenes or evidence. Investigators also perform other tasks on behalf of attorneys, using initiative and resourcefulness in all assigned duties.
We are looking for someone with strong analytical skills, excellent communication, and a high level of integrity. Experience in criminal investigations or related fields is preferred.

Minimum Qualifications and NecessarySpecial Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent supplemented by additional coursework in criminal justice or related field, and at least 2 years of experience in law enforcement; or equivalent.
- Employees in this class must have the ability to obtain a private investigator license from the State of Nebraska or be designated as a Special Deputy State Sheriff pursuant to State statute, within six (6) months of employment.
8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with possible overtime on nights and weekends.
