Job Posting Information

Are you ready to discover your purpose? Ready to commit to making a difference? Ready to take on the most rewarding challenge of your life in a city consistently ranked as one of the best places in the country to live, work, play, and raise a family? The Lincoln Police Department is always accepting applications for both entry‑level and certified police officers.

We believe that diversity strengthens our team, which is why we’re dedicated to building a department that mirrors the community we serve. We encourage people from all backgrounds to apply. While we can teach you the technical skills, what we value most in the hiring process is character and potential. The qualities that make a great Lincoln Police Officer include integrity, teamwork, determination, humility, critical thinking, emotional strength, adaptability, resilience, and curiosity.

As a Lincoln Police Officer, you’ll experience a wide range of situations, offering countless opportunities for professional growth. Unlike many departments of our size, we follow a generalist policing model. This means you’ll have the training and responsibility to fully investigate your own cases. While this approach presents an added challenge, it also develops well‑rounded officers, allowing you to sharpen your skills on patrol and be ready for advancement when the opportunity arises.

Lincoln Police Officers work hand‑in‑hand with the community to prevent crime and address issues proactively, ensuring a safer environment for all. In return, they enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, competitive pay, and a defined benefit pension. Certified officers may also be eligible for additional incentives.
