Job DescriptionSalary:$14 an hour (starting)
Job Type:Full-time, Part-time
Shift and
Schedule:
Monday – Friday, Weekend availability, Day shift, Overtime
Work setting:Onsite
Caregiver Responsibilities- Personal Care Assistance:
Assist clients with personal hygiene tasks, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting. Support clients in maintaining mobility, performing exercises, and managing mobility aids.
- Medication Reminders:
Remind clients to take their medications according to prescribed schedules.
- Meal Preparation:
Prepare nutritious meals and snacks for clients, considering dietary restrictions and preferences. Assist with feeding if necessary and ensure proper hydration for clients.
- Light Housekeeping:
Perform light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe living environment for clients. Tasks may include dusting, sweeping, mopping, laundry, changing bed linens, washing dishes and organizing belongings.
- Companionship:
Provide companionship and engage in meaningful conversations with clients. Participate in activities, hobbies, and outings to promote social interaction and mental stimulation. Offer emotional support and a compassionate presence to enhance the overall well-being of clients.
- Transportation and Errands:
Assist clients with transportation to medical appointments, grocery shopping, and other necessary errands. Ensure clients’ safety during outings and help them maintain their independence when being transported in caregivers’ own vehicle.
- Communication and
Collaboration:
Maintain effective communication with clients, their families, and other healthcare professionals involved in their care. Report any changes in clients’ condition or concerns to the appropriate parties.
- Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of care provided, including daily activities, observations, and any incidents or changes in clients’ conditions. Complete required documentation and reports in a timely manner.
Education, Skills and ExperienceMinimum Requirements
A high school diploma or equivalent is required and one year experience in related field or combination of educations, experience and training.
Additional certifications or training in caregiving, first aid, or CPR are advantageous.
Preferred Qualifications- Prior experience as a caregiver, preferably in a home care setting or a similar caregiving role, is preferred. Experience working with elderly individuals or those with disabilities is beneficial.
- Understanding of personal care techniques, hygiene practices, and household management.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and techniques to ensure client safety.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients and their families.
- Compassion, patience, and empathy towards individuals with limitations or disabilities.
- Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and adapt to changing client needs.
- Good organizational skills to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
- Strong observation and critical thinking skills to assess client conditions and respond appropriately.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients and their families.
