Position: Full‑time, 5 days per week, 3:00PM – 11:30PM (40 hours per week)

Location: UH Lakewood Medical Center, Kansas City, MO

Department: General Lab UHLMC

Job Description

Support essential lab operations and patient care behind the scenes and at the bedside. We’re looking for a detail‑oriented and dependable Clinical Laboratory Clerk to support the day‑to‑day clerical and phlebotomy functions of our dynamic Clinical Laboratory team. This role plays a vital part in ensuring that lab services run smoothly and efficiently for patients and providers alike. Key Responsibilities
  • Perform clerical tasks including logging specimens, processing samples for reference labs, charting, filing, answering phones, and handling specimen pickup and delivery.
  • Provide high‑quality phlebotomy services for outpatients (first shift only).
  • Greet and assist patients and visitors, providing clear and compassionate communication.
  • Maintain orderly and accurate records while managing priorities under direct supervision.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff and contribute to an efficient and well‑organized work environment.
Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong verbal communication skills to interact with patients, visitors, and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to work with patients of all ages, understanding developmental and comfort needs.
  • Written communication skills for taking clear, accurate messages.
  • Computer skills with the ability to navigate a Windows‑based environment.
  • Solid organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Physical ability to work weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion of coursework in medical terminology.
  • Previous phlebotomy experience in a healthcare setting.
