Medical Laboratory Technician
Bryan Health is looking for a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to perform high‑complexity laboratory tests, procedures, and analyses. This role supports clinical diagnostics and offers an on‑the‑job learning opportunity for candidates progressing toward a full MLT/MLS career ladder.
Responsibilities- Commit to the organization’s mission, vision, and core values.
- Under the supervision of a CLIA‑designated General Supervisor, perform laboratory testing according to established standards, policies, and procedures.
- Assist with development, validation, and competency processes for MLT I.
- Support clinical decision‑making by interpreting established procedures and test results.
- Provide guidance to MLT I staff and act as clinical resource.
- Enter and adjudicate test results into the laboratory information system.
- Conduct and analyze quality control measures; troubleshoot adverse results and shift trends.
- Maintain proficiency on all instrumentation and perform preventative maintenance, documenting procedures and notifying supervisors of issues.
- Communicate with coworkers, clients, and leadership regarding patient test results and data with clarity and confidentiality.
- Maintain a safe work environment by performing general housekeeping and ensuring adequate supplies.
- Assist in training new employees, students, and support staff.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff to meet testing targets and share results promptly.
- Use quality improvement tools and participate in LEAN projects.
- Deliver service excellence that enhances patient/customer experience.
- Demonstrate basic phlebotomy knowledge and perform phlebotomy when required.
- Engage in continuous professional development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations.
- Participate in meetings, committees, and department projects as assigned.
- Perform other related projects and duties as delegated.
- Knowledge of clinical laboratory equipment, instrumentation, and test procedures.
- Proficiency with computer hardware and relevant software applications.
- Skills in preventative maintenance of laboratory instruments.
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations.
- Competency in reading and interpreting safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Problem‑solving skills for situations with limited standardization.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Capability to conduct critical conversations with desired outcomes.
- Effective relationship building across all personnel levels.

Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related laboratory science from a two‑year accredited college, or a CLIA‑approved military MLT program. A Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science that meets ASCP criteria for MLT certification, together with the required 2 years of clinical experience, is also acceptable. ASCP MLT certification or an equivalent is preferred.
Physical Requirements- Medium work: occasional exertion of 20–50 pounds, frequent exertion of 10–25 pounds, and constant exertion of up to 10 pounds to move objects.
