Most recently, we opened the new April Sampson Cancer Center located in south Lincoln, where we provide state of the art technology for patients, including Varian True Beam, EDGE Radiosurgical suite, along with additional innovative technologies and service lines.

Cancer Partners of Nebraska is seeking a dedicated Radiation Therapist Team Lead to facilitate, organize, and coordinate daily operations within our Radiation Oncology department. This position is responsible for ensuring quality patient care while also providing direct radiation therapy treatments as prescribed by radiation oncologists, in alignment with established practices and standards.

Key

Duties & Responsibilities Leadership & Team Management (20% administrative)
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate therapy staff schedules across Lincoln and Kearney locations.
  • Provide leadership in compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and Cancer Partners policies.
  • Facilitate team meetings, onboarding, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures.
  • Foster a positive, patient-centered care environment through staff development and monitoring.
  • Communicate procedural updates and represent staff during department meetings.
  • Order and manage therapy equipment and supplies.
  • Promote collaboration across all areas of the facility.
Patient Care
  • Administer prescribed doses of radiation using appropriate therapy equipment.
  • Accurately position patients and calculate treatment dosages.
  • Operate, monitor, and maintain therapy equipment to ensure safe and effective delivery.
  • Document treatment records, dosages, equipment settings, and patient responses.
  • Monitor and reassure patients during treatment, intervening as needed for safety.
  • Collaborate with physicians, oncologists, and physicists in developing treatment plans.
  • Educate patients and families regarding procedures, side effects, and post-care.
  • Uphold patient confidentiality, infection control, and regulatory compliance standards.
Qualifications Education & Training
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy Technology program.
  • ARRT Certification in Radiation Therapy required.
Experience
  • 3–5 years of experience delivering radiation therapy in a recognized institution.
  • 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of radiation oncology procedures, patient care standards, HIPAA, OSHA, and regulatory policies.
  • Demonstrated leadership, training, and staff development skills.
  • Ability to problem-solve, implement improvements, and refine procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and staff.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations.
  • Proficiency in equipment use, troubleshooting, and computer systems.
Travel
  • Travel may be required to other Lincoln clinic and hospital systems, as well as occasional travel to Kearney.
Physical & Mental Demands
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Full range of body motion with manual dexterity and coordination.
  • Normal hearing and corrected vision to 20/20.
  • Ability to manage occasional stress related to workload and patient needs.
