Firefighter Paramedic Trainee

Lincoln Fire & Rescue is looking for motivated individuals to join our team as Firefighter Paramedics. We welcome applicants who are eager to learn, grow, and build a career in fire and emergency medical services. This is a great opportunity for individuals who want to gain hands-on experience and serve the community.

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Applicants must be at least 19 years old by the posted closing date of March 1, 2026.
• Must possess a current (within the last year as of March 1, 2026.) IAFF/IAFC CPAT Certification.

• State of Nebraska Paramedic License and National Registry Paramedic (NRP) certification.
• NRP Certification is required on the date of hire.
• State of Nebraska Paramedic License is required within 90 days from the date of hire.
• Must obtain the following certifications within 120 days of appointment:
  • IFSAC/Pro-Board Firefighter I
  • IFSAC/Pro-Board Firefighter II
  • IFSAC/Pro-Board Hazardous Materials Operations
• Successful completion of the Lincoln EMS system certification for ALS within 1 year of appointment is necessary to the satisfactory performance of assigned duties.

• Selected candidates must submit to, and successfully pass a substance abuse test.
• Applicants who successfully meet the requirements will be scheduled for the on-line written exam on Thursday, March 5, 2026. Detailed test information will be sent by email to qualified applicants after the closing date.
