Psychologist/Clinical - Nebraska State Penitentiary

This is an at‑will position. Compensation is commensurate with experience for fully licensed psychologists; provisional license holders may be considered with a minimum starting salary of $95,000.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the development, establishment, implementation, and evaluation of psychological and other mental health services for various inmate populations.
- Provide clinical consultation to mental health staff and may assist the Mental Health Director in supervising non‑licensed psychologists, students, and other practitioners.
- Train mental health and correctional staff as needed.
- Administer psychological tests, interpret results, and conduct risk assessments with appropriate treatment recommendations.
- Develop or supervise behavioral plans for high‑risk or special‑needs inmates.
- Provide and supervise psychotherapy and treatment services, including observation, crisis intervention, and mental status evaluations.
- Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations for diagnosis, risks, and needs, and develop treatment plans.
- Participate in involuntary medication hearings and multidisciplinary treatment team meetings.
- Prepare and complete paperwork, reports, and documentation according to policy.
- Maintain current Nebraska licensure.
- Must be licensed to practice psychology in the state of Nebraska.
- Completed required APA‑accredited clinical internship.
- Supervisory experience with psychological and other mental health professionals.
- Forensic experience and experience working with incarcerated individuals and major mental illness populations.
- Experience assessing inmates convicted of sexual offenses and testifying in Mental Health Board hearings.
- Experience on multidisciplinary teams and in administering psychological tests.
- Proficiency in English;
Spanish bilingualism desired.
- License‑eligible candidates may be considered if actively pursuing licensure to become a fully licensed Clinical Psychologist within two years from hire date; proof of licensure and transcripts required upon offer acceptance.
- Must submit to a security background check.
- Applicants must pass a pre‑employment medical exam and a drug test.
- All incumbents must successfully complete the fully paid Nebraska Department of Correctional Services pre‑service training program.
