Job Summary
The GIS Map Analyst Team Lead is responsible for overseeing a team of GIS Map Analysts focused on developing, maintaining, and enhancing geographic datasets used in the vehicle safety sector. This role combines leadership, analytical expertise, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure the delivery of the most accurate, reliable, and high-performing map products. The Team Lead will also partner with software development teams to design and refine mapping tools and workflows that advance the organization’s capabilities in geospatial data accuracy and operational efficiency.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead, mentor, and develop a team of GIS Map Analysts, ensuring consistent performance, technical growth, and adherence to project timelines.
Manage the lifecycle of map creation, validation, and improvement—ensuring data integrity, consistency, and accuracy across all products.
Collaborate closely with software development and systems engineering teams to enhance internal GIS tools and automate workflows for increased efficiency.
Oversee quality assurance processes for map data and contribute to the development of standards and best practices for geospatial accuracy.
Monitor mapping performance metrics and reliability indicators to maintain the industry’s most dependable vehicle safety maps.
Coordinate with product and operations teams to align mapping deliverables with organizational goals and new feature rollouts.
Research and implement emerging GIS technologies, data sources, and methodologies to continually improve map precision and reliability.
Prepare reports, visualizations, and data summaries for management review and stakeholder presentations.
5+ years of professional GIS experience, including at least 2 years in a team leadership or supervisory role.
Proficiency with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS Pro, QGIS)
Strong understanding of cartography principles, spatial analysis, and data visualization techniques.
Proven ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary projects and communicate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
Knowledge of vehicle safety systems, transportation data, or navigation mapping is highly desirable.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
