This position will be working at NEBCO Concrete Materials, a new subsidiary of NEBCO, Inc. This subsidiary operates the terminal located near 18th & 'Y' Street, adjacent to NEBCO's OL&B Railway and Ready Mixed Concrete 'Y' Street Plant. This terminal stores, handles, and transports bulk materials used in the production of ready mixed concrete and concrete/block hardscapes.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Yard Laborer to support general labor and operations for NEBCO Concrete Materials. This position provides general labor support for the plant, supports batching activities, observes to assure that proper amount of concrete is being batched, and maintains the yard area of the terminal. The yard laborer must abide by the Company Safety Program and Policies, perform duties safely, and maintain reliable attendance.

Ensures safe and efficient operation of the plant through maintenance, inspection and repair of equipment and operating conditions.

Performs daily cleaning of areas by sweeping and maintaining a clean and safe environment.

Loads product and materials and assures appropriate tickets are written for orders according to requirements.

Operates a front‑end loader or forklift according to the requirements of the current need.

Works with appropriate personnel to identify and plan daily operations.

Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
  • Six months experience in a construction and/or construction products related field; or
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience;
  • Previous experience operating construction machinery or equipment—forklift, pallet loaders, lift truck, and a front‑end loader—is preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Forklift and Loader Certification, or ability to complete requirements of the program and pass the test in a reasonable period of time after hire.

Skills and Abilities
  • Must be able to develop a good working knowledge of materials and be capable of meeting required specifications.
  • Previous experience in plant maintenance, batch systems, and loader operation helpful but not necessary.
  • Must be mechanically inclined to support maintenance roles when necessary.
  • Must be able to distinguish between safe and unsafe conditions in the yard and in the plant area.
  • Must be capable of learning and operating a computerized batch processing system.
  • Must have a good sense of detail and work to maintain a clean and safe yard and plant environment.
  • Must be able to work a flexible work schedule during busy season.
  • Must be able to work late or irregular hours.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds and able to climb to heights of 125 feet.
Working Conditions

Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. Works in minimal non‑hazardous dust daily. Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, loud noise environment, and vibration. Tobacco free campus.
