Position: Appraiser I at City of Lincoln & Lancaster County Lincoln, NE

Hours:

full time, Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m.

- 4:30 p. This is entry-level, technical work applying the appraisal process to real property in Lancaster County. Work involves following established guidelines in the appraisal and assessment of residential, commercial, or agricultural property.

Nature of Work/Examples of Work Performed

Applies established procedures in collection of property detail and in estimating subjective property characteristics. Observes, evaluates, and records defined property characteristics during onsite inspection or through desktop review of digital information and existing property records. Prepares sketches of buildings from building plans or on-site measurements, and determines classification of structures. Interviews owners, tenants, and managers to acquire pertinent information regarding property characteristics to be utilized in valuation models.

Communicates with the public, professionals, staff and management regarding to assessment policies and procedures; conveys property owner concerns to appropriate superior and follows up through resolution.

Minimum Qualifications/Necessary Special Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from a high school or equivalent supplemented by college-level coursework in real estate, math, business administration, public administration, or related field plus six months of experience appraising/listing real property; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the desirable knowledge, abilities and skills.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Possession of a valid driver's license when operating a vehicle is necessary for the satisfactory performance of assigned duties.

Employees must work a least 20 hours per week to be eligible for insurance benefits. Vacation leave, sick leave, and holidays are prorated for part time employees based upon the hours worked per week. Temporary, seasonal, and on-call employees are not eligible for benefits.
