NIFCO is seeking a full-time Welder Fitter to join its growing team in Lincoln. As a leader in the design and installation of mechanical and fire sprinkler systems, NIFCO offers a dynamic work environment where employees can develop their skills and advance their careers. The Welder Fitter will play a key role in fabricating and assembling fire sprinkler piping systems, working closely with engineers, architects, and other construction professionals.
NIFCO is committed to providing comprehensive on-the-job training, making this an excellent opportunity for welders with fitting experience who are new to the piping industry and eager to learn and grow within a supportive team.
- Select and set up welding equipment and plan layout, assembly, and welding processes for fire sprinkler piping systems.
- Lay out, position, align, and fit components according to specifications and cut sheets.
- Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure them in position for welding.
- Perform welding using arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc, gas, or wire welding equipment on carbon and stainless steel.
- Assemble parts by bolting and riveting as required.
- Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts.
- Assist in the fabrication and installation of piping systems, ensuring compliance with local codes and project requirements.
- Coordinate with fire sprinkler designers and other team members to ensure project success.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment, following all safety rules and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Associate’s degree from a technical school, or six months to one year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience welding carbon and stainless steel using wire welding techniques, shielded arc welding, MIG, and TIG. Willingness to learn TIG welding if not already proficient.
- Certified welding certificate required; ability to pass an NDT 6G qualification process within 6 months of hire.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and isometric drawings.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and computation of rates, ratios, and percentages.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift/move up to 100 pounds as required by the job.
- Ability to work in environments with moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, varying weather conditions, and loud noise.
