The Journeyman Fire Sprinkler Fitter plays a vital role in building and maintaining integrated fire sprinkler systems, working from detailed CAD designs to ensure compliance with NFPA codes and high standards of workmanship.

- Interpret and implement fire sprinkler system designs, including pipe routing, sizing, and head placement in accordance with NFPA codes.
- Select appropriate types and sizes of pipe, fittings, supports, and related materials based on project specifications.
- Inspect work sites to identify potential obstructions and ensure structural integrity during installation.
- Plan and execute installation or repair work to avoid conflicts with other trades and minimize disruptions.
- Cut, thread, fabricate, assemble, and install metal and nonmetal pipes, tubes, and fittings, including iron, steel, and CPVC piping.
- Connect pipes using threaded, grooved, or cemented joints and secure them with brackets, clamps, and hangers.
- Test completed systems for leaks by increasing pressure and monitoring gauges.
- Supervise and train apprentices, assign tasks, and provide direction on job sites.
- Coordinate with other trades, address on-site issues, and resolve problems as they arise.
- Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with company and industry standards.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Journeyman's License in Fire Sprinkler Protection required.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Experience with fire sprinkler system installation, maintenance, or repair preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction documents, and safety instructions.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects.
- Ability to supervise, train, and direct apprentices and other team members.
- Proficient in basic math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and understanding of rates and ratios.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally; ability to stand, walk, climb, kneel, and work in various environments.
