Position: Maintenance Specialist I - Nebraska State Penitentiary

Maintenance Specialist I – Nebraska State Penitentiary

Join the state of Nebraska as a Maintenance Specialist I at the Nebraska State Penitentiary in Lincoln, NE. Your pay will be based on your skills and experience.

Base Pay Range

$20,000.00/yr – $20,000.00/yr

Duties
  • Maintain the physical plant with repairs and preventive maintenance.
  • Perform skilled carpentry work in major renovations and construction of buildings, structures, floors, roofs, stairways, partitions, walls, ceilings, doors, windows, screens, furniture, and cabinets.
  • Schedule and perform specialized preventive maintenance and repairs for equipment, systems, and machinery.
  • Supervise inmates working in the maintenance department.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of all stock and commonly used maintenance parts and tool logs.
  • Follow all policies and procedures relating to tool control and purchasing of tools, equipment, and parts. Responsible for maintenance related purchases and statement reconciliation.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Associates degree or equivalent vocational education in construction, industrial engineering, HVAC, welding, or other building trade.
  • Experience in building maintenance, mechanical trade, or performing safety inspections, investigations, or training may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis as determined appropriate by the agency.
  • Applicants accepting a job offer must pass a medical exam and, at a randomly announced time, a drug test. Must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program.
