PositionSummary
This important role will perform construction and maintenance functions on Black Hills Energy's Natural Gas distribution system and respond to emergency situations in a safe and efficient manner consistent with company policies and procedures.

- Pay Range: $32.62 per hour (Determined by the current Collective Bargaining Agreement)
- Reporting to:
Gas Operations Supervisor
- Install and maintain the gas distribution system safely and efficiently, complying with company policies.
- Prepare and perform work on the distribution system, operate construction equipment, and restore job sites to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Operate, maintain and inspect construction equipment, vehicles and tools to ensure maximum utilization and cost effectiveness.
- Follow company safety policy and training procedures by utilizing safe work and driving habits to ensure customer and employee safety.
- Complete recordkeeping associated with construction and maintenance operations to ensure that work done is accounted for properly and that accurate up-to-date records are maintained for future reference.
- Participate in company regulated and non-regulated marketing programs.
- Perform tasks such as line locating, stopping and tapping, customer piping, meter reading, meter exchanges, leak and atmospheric surveys, chart changing, lighting appliances, leak investigation and pinpointing, plastic fusion, meter and regulator installations, operation and maintenance of odorant equipment and maintenance of facilities.
- Respond to natural gas emergency calls, including gas leaks, carbon monoxide, gas line hits and residential furnace no-heat calls.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- CDL - Group A - Commercial Drivers License; valid Nebraska driver’s license; ability to qualify for Class A CDL with air brake endorsement; safe driving record.
- Must hold and maintain a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company and insurer standards.
- Associate’s Degree.
- Qualification to perform job tasks as defined by the Department of Transportation and company procedures.
- Previous work experience on natural gas distribution or transmission systems.
- Previous work experience with construction equipment on construction sites.
- Thorough familiarity with Company Operations Procedures, Emergency Procedures, and State and Federal Codes as they apply to the work.
- Extensive knowledge of company safety procedures, practices and policies.
- Ability to demonstrate relevant competencies through assessment methods.
- Positive customer relations orientation, including communication skills.
- Expected to establish residence in designated location no later than 90 days after accepting the job.
