Job Summary

Journeyman Plumbers principal occupation is engaged in the practical installation, alteration, repair, or removal of plumbing and drainage or gas piping. A journeyman plumber may supervise apprentices at job sites.

Key responsibilities and qualifications include:

• Ability to read and understand plans and specifications and follow instructions.
• Must be able to provide own transportation to and from job sites.
• Must be dependable, reliable and attend work as scheduled.
• Must be able to dig with shovel.
• Must be able to operate hand tools and power tools.
• Must be proficient with soldering and brazing of copper.
• Must be proficient working with PEX piping and fittings.
• Must be registered as a Journeyman Plumber with the City of Lincoln.
• Pay range is $25 - $35/hr - DOE.

Typical work includes:

• Installation of supports and hangers for pipe, fixtures and equipment.
• Assisting with material delivery and distribution.
• Assembly of pipe sections, tubing and fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking.
• Installation of plumbing fixtures and equipment such as sinks, tubs, toilets, water heaters, and trim.
• Installation of fire stopping systems.
• Assisting with testing of pipe systems; observing pressure gauges and repairing leaks.
• Soldering and brazing of copper pipe and fittings.
• Coordinating the cleaning and organizing of the job site.

• Must be in good physical condition.
• Requires standing for long periods, frequent walking, stooping and crouching.
• Requires moderate level of hand‑to‑eye coordination and dexterity (picking, pinching, holding, grasping, repetitive flexion/rotation).
• Regularly lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 60 pounds.
• Requires walking up and down stairs, climbing ladders, and occasionally entering confined spaces with limited ingress and egress.
• Requires close, distance, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

• The work is performed at construction sites, including building renovations and new construction.
• The employee regularly works in both indoor and outdoor environments with extreme high and low temperatures.
• Exposure to fumes, odors, work at heights, power tools, and machinery with moving parts.
• Noise level is usually moderate and occasionally high, with potential need for hearing protection.
