The Assistant Pool Manager will oversee the entire pool operation, ensuring we provide a safe, clean, family friendly aquatic facility for members/guests to swim, play, and have fun.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Train, supervise, and evaluate pool staff.
- Create weekly schedules and rotation plans for lifeguards, instructors, and other employees.
- Order and manage pool chemicals; monitor chemical balance and coordinate equipment upkeep with the maintenance team.
- Enforce all safety policies, emergency procedures, and club rules of conduct.
- Provide first aid and CPR when needed, in line with Red Cross and American Heart Association standards.
- Keep records of chemical levels, incidents, attendance, and other operational needs.
- Implement and oversee pool safety programs to ensure proper staffing coverage.
- Manage pool opening and closing at the start and end of each season.
- Work with contractors for pool maintenance and facility upgrades.
- Contribute pool-related content to the club newsletter.
- Oversee locker rooms, changing areas, and poolside snack bar for cleanliness and safety.
- Serve as swim and dive team coach; assist with practices, meets, lineups, and transportation as needed.
- Ensure operations comply with OSHA standards and maintain required documentation.
- Support special pool events with a visible and engaged presence.
- Perform additional duties as required.
- Current Red Cross Lifeguard certification required.
- Red Cross First Aid, CPR, and AED certification required.
- Pool Operator certification.
- Minimum of three years in aquatics or pool management, or as an assistant pool manager at a similar facility.
- Prior coaching or competitive swimming experience a plus.
- Experience lifeguarding required.
- Prior private club experience preferred.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of pool management, including frequent lifting, bending, climbing, and pulling.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Comfort working in hot, humid, wet, and noisy environments with exposure to chlorine and cleaning products.
