Transportation Construction Inspector - Lincoln, NE

Bowman Consulting invites you to join our team as a Transportation Construction Inspector in Lincoln, NE.

Purpose

Perform bridge and highway inspections to ensure compliance with codes and regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Perform inspections for transportation construction projects to ensure they are completed in accordance with plans, specifications and in compliance with codes and regulations.
  • Document project assignments accurately.
  • Prepare inspection and contractor performance reports as needed for project records.
  • Maintain project documents and files.
  • Perform other duties assigned.
  • Liaise with project managers concerning pertinent findings of inspections.
  • Work under moderate supervision, receiving direction on moderately complex assignments.
  • Manage multiple time-sensitive tasks effectively.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of DOT experience as a Technical Assistant 2 (TA-2) or higher; or two (2) years minimum of transportation, highway, or bridge construction inspection experience; or four (4) years minimum of highway or bridge construction, non-highway or bridge inspection, or highway or bridge design experience.
  • NICET certification a plus.
  • DOT Concrete Field Testing Technician Certification a plus.
  • NECEPT Bituminous Field Certification a plus.
  • Valid state driver's license and ability to pass a motor vehicle check or reliable transportation to/from the office and/or project site.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Strong communication skills.

Physical Demands
  • Primarily outdoor work with varying temperatures, noise, potential hazards.
  • Mobility required: walking, bending, crawling, climbing, squatting, kneeling, and use of PPE.
  • Occasional lifting or carrying up to 20 pounds.
  • Occasional pushing or pulling up to 20 pounds.
  • Occasional reaching outward or above shoulder.
