Job Summary

Performs the day‑to‑day yard operations of shipping, receiving, loading and inventory control of warehouse materials and supports plant operations for Concrete Industries. Must abide by Company Program and Policies while performing duties safely. Reliable attendance required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Receives and unloads freight either manually or with equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks; checks for damaged goods; verifies quantity and quality of order; verifies items are correct with purchase orders.
  • Works with the sales counter to process sales orders for walk‑in customers and loads items on customers’ vehicles.
  • Prepares orders for pickup for delivery by CI trucks or vehicles of affiliated companies.
  • Unloads incoming freight, inspects merchandise for shortages or damages, matches PO numbers with orders, and processes attached paperwork.
  • Stocks freight in the warehouse or yard if new inventory; ships to proper destination if necessary.
  • Keeps inventory stocked in designated areas to facilitate accurate and efficient inventory count.
  • Informs Warehouse Manager of low inventory levels to initiate restock orders, performs periodic spot checks and year‑end inventory counts.
  • Performs minor repair and maintenance of the lift truck and informs the Warehouse Manager of any major equipment problems.
  • Provides support, assistance and backup of yard personnel as necessary daily by training and learning all aspects of the position.
  • Relief role fill in warehouse support when personnel are not available due to vacation, illness or any other absence.
  • Maintains the warehouse area in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Assures SDS forms are maintained and up to date for accurate information and immediate review.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
  • Previous warehouse and/or forklift experience; or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Previous forklift experience required.
  • Must complete forklift safety program certification and pass the test within a reasonable time after employment.

  • Ability to read and comprehend delivery tickets, invoices, sales tickets, SDS sheets and the company safety manual.
  • Ability to understand work direction.
  • Good sense of detail and ability to maintain a clean and safe warehouse environment.
  • Responsive and courteous customer service support.
  • Recognizes a need to support department responsiveness without being told.
  • Basic numbers and math to count inventory or complete orders based on sales tickets.
  • Distinguishes between safe and unsafe conditions in the yard and in the warehouse.
  • Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 100 pounds.
  • Works with regular exposure to outside weather conditions.
