Step into a fulfilling contract assignment supporting students with high functional life skills in a collaborative and resource-rich environment. A dedicated Special Education Teacher is needed to provide coverage during a maternity leave this upcoming school year. This full-time, onsite role runs from October 16, 2026, through January 15, 2027, offering a unique chance to engage directly with a supportive team and make an immediate impact.
KeyQualifications:
- Active Special Education Educator Certificate required
- Experience teaching K-5 students, ideally within a special education or high functional life skills setting
- Strong classroom management and organization skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teacher assistants and related services staff
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
- Deliver engaging instruction to a group of approximately 8 students alongside 3 teaching assistants
- Develop and tailor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to meet diverse student needs
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that enhances student learning and growth
- Maintain accurate records and provide regular updates on student progress
- Work closely with families and school specialists to ensure best outcomes for all learners
- Implement life skills curriculum and support student independence
This position follows a consistent schedule, running from 8:15 am to 3:45 pm each weekday, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. Collaborate with a welcoming school community while developing meaningful relationships with students and staff during your contract.
