Welder Prepper

Join Niantic Seal, Inc. as a Welder Prepper and maintain a clean, organized work environment while ensuring welders have the tools and materials they need.

• Assist ship fitters and welders during normal metalworking and welding operations.
• Set up oxygen/acetylene torches and handle daily torch and bottle extensions.
• Position and secure parts and assemblies according to specifications using straightedge, combination square, calipers, and ruler.
• Cut work pieces using powered oxy‑fuel hand torches.
• Operate basic shop machines such as belt sanders, drill presses, and band saws.
• Prepare material for welding, including grinding, descaling, and grinding weld prep for welders.
• Assist welders as required and maintain a neat, clean work area.
• Segregate and periodically dispose of scrap material into approved containers.
• Operate forklift and crane in accordance with safety standards.

• Minimum 1 year experience in a manufacturing welding environment.
• Ability to read tape measurements and perform simple math.
• Attention to detail for quality inspection.
• High school diploma or GED (preferred).

• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Long periods of standing and repetitive motion required.

Full‑time. Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work as needed. Overtime may be required.
