Pipefitter (Construction) – GEM Incorporated
Join as a Lead Technician (Pipefitter) to design, install, maintain, and repair pipe systems across construction projects, ensuring quality, safety, and client satisfaction.
Position OverviewAs a Lead Technician (Pipefitter), you will be a key member of our technical team, bringing your expertise to the installation, maintenance, and repair‑and‑replacement of pipe systems. This role requires a high level of skill, knowledge, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service.
Essential Job Functions- Install and maintain pipe systems per specifications and codes, including inspections, repairs, and reassembly.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure accurate and efficient project completion.
- Diagnose failures, troubleshoot, and adjust or replace worn mechanisms using hand tools and test equipment.
- Read blueprints to determine required components and layout.
- Ensure all work meets regulatory standards, safety protocols, and company guidelines.
- Conduct quality inspections and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Calculate service costs, handle customer payments, and manage financial record keeping.
- Maintain accurate work logs, including parts used, time spent, and any issues encountered.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, project managers, and clients, and respond to dispatch calls.
- Participate in safety training and uphold safety protocols during all activities.
- Pursue continuous learning to keep skills and knowledge current.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Refrigeration/Sheet metal or Pipefitter license (Journeyman).
- Enrollment or completion of required trade school per state apprentice regulations.
- Minimum 2‑3 years of related work experience preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Familiarity with local and national codes and regulations.
- Valid driver’s license and authorization to work in the United States.
- Typical noise level moderate to loud.
- Work may include evenings, early mornings, weekends, or holidays.
- Indoor and outdoor work in various climates, including cold, hot, and humid conditions.
- Physical demands: reaching, stooping, kneeling, standing, walking, bending; carrying up to 75 lbs.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills essential.
- Capacity for close and distance vision, and ability to adapt visual settings.
