Admin / Booking Clerk – Band 2
Location: NHS Trust (Audiology or Neurophysiology Department)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm (37.5 hours per week)
Pay Band: Band 2
Contract Type: Temporary with potential for permanent employment
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an organised and customer-focused Admin / Booking Clerk to join a busy NHS department within either Audiology or Neurophysiology. The successful candidate will provide efficient administrative and appointment booking support, ensuring patients receive a professional and timely service.
This position offers an initial temporary assignment with the potential to become a permanent role for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities- Book, amend and cancel patient appointments in line with departmental procedures.
- Manage incoming telephone calls and email enquiries from patients, clinicians and healthcare professionals.
- Accurately update and maintain patient information on NHS systems.
- Send appointment letters, information packs and other patient correspondence.
- Support waiting list management and assist with reducing appointment backlogs.
- Ensure patient records are maintained in accordance with GDPR and NHS confidentiality standards.
- Liaise with clinicians and service teams regarding clinic availability and scheduling.
- Process referrals and ensure all relevant information is recorded correctly.
- Provide general administrative support including filing, scanning, photocopying and data entry.
- Deliver excellent customer service to patients and visitors at all times.
- Previous administration or customer service experience.
- Strong telephone manner and communication skills.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage a busy workload and prioritise tasks effectively.
- Experience handling confidential information appropriately.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Previous NHS or healthcare administration experience.
- Experience using NHS systems such as PAS, Lorenzo, Systm One or similar.
- Appointment booking or scheduling experience.
